The world today

We live in a rapidly changing technological and scientific age. Over the years, many have promoted the belief that scientific and technological understanding and progress are incompatible with people having a personal faith in a loving, creator God.

Others take the view that actually science and faith do belong together and support one another. Many of us, with or without a faith, struggle with the ethics of application of new developments in science and technology.

What are we about?

The world presents us with many questions, such as:

• Are science, technology and faith compatible?

• Does Christian faith help us to understand the developments in the world around us?

• Where does the ethical application of science and technology fit into all of this?

Our aim is to provide opportunities to look in more depth at scientific, technological and ethical and moral developments, viewed through a framework of bible-based Christian faith, and about how we can apply these principles in our modern world. We seek to offer an environment where people can come together to learn about, contribute to and discuss these topics, in a safe and stimulating environment.

Our gatherings

Historically, we have done this through talks and discussions in Worcester, fronted by leading scientists and thinkers, on significant scientific, bioethical and technological issues of the day, and during lockdown, we had several gatherings on Zoom.

We are now able to meet in person once again, and are back to running our spring and autumn seasons of talks face to face. However, much as we welcome this, we are also keen to develop the use of online facilities as well. During lockdown, in 2021, we were delighted to be joined on Zoom by people from three different continents, and aim to develop this capability in the future.

Come and join us

If you too are curious about these questions, and would like to help develop the thinking about how science and faith can work together, we’d love you to come and join us. The Bible tells us that “iron sharpens iron”, (Proverbs 27:17), and together, we can explore and unpack current issues, helping to shape one another’s thinking through both talks and discussion.

If this appeals to you, and you’d like to find out more, do come and join us. You are very welcome.
